I’ve been a PGA Professional for 34 years and am the Club Professional at Tehidy Park Golf Club, a private members 18-hole club in the heart of Cornwall. I spend my time between coaching members and visitors, running my retail business as well as playing competitive and recreational golf.

Typically, I start at 8am and divide my day between coaching in the morning and spending the afternoon in the Pro Shop focusing on my retail business until around 6pm. During my week, I enjoy coaching the Tehidy junior section ‘The Tehidy Tigers’ which engages children at nearby primary schools. In my spare time during the week, I enjoy spending time with my wife and 2 sons, going to the gym and cycling. I also like studying golf and gardening.
Over the past 6 years we have dedicated a lot of our spare time to renovating the house. I live in a 250-year-old mill house that needed complete restoration and damp-proofing. The renovation is coming to an end now and we are making the finer touches – We are very happy to have our dream home.
I’m fortunate that my hobby is also my job and I’m passionate about what I do. I get motivated by new challenges – I like to learn new things, keep fit, stay healthy and help others improve their game. I also like to learn from other people and watch their success – taking inspiration and how I can improve. It doesn’t have to be just in golf, it could be in other sports and performances too. It shows that with the right attitude you can make your goals achievable.
Life before fibodo
Before using fibodo, I’d often have people not turning up for lessons or missing their appointment. Sometimes people would turn up on the wrong day for their sessions. fibodo gives me more security because people book and turn up. It makes it easy to promote my coaching and golf simulator sessions through social media. Plus, the fibodo for Business app makes it very easy to organise my diary and saves me so much time.
I love spending my spare time with my wife and two sons particularly on the golf course. I also love going on holiday with my family – recently we’ve been skiing in Italy and golfing in Wales.
Over the coming years, I’d like to see more of the world – my travel wish list would include Canada, Cuba, South Africa and Asia, to experience different cultures and to play different golf courses on different continents.
If you’re thinking about starting your own business, I recommend using social media and engaging with as many people as you can. The traditional coach is necessary, as they can identify specific areas to improve and then offer tailored advice to help clients achieve their exact goals.
